We are thrilled to announce that Faris M. Murad, MD, FASGE will be joining our practice in February 2019, as a specialist in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy. Most recently, Dr. Murad served as Chief of Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at NorthShore University HealthSystem where he performed hundreds of complex cases. Prior to his time at NorthShore, he was an Associate Professor of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, and served as Director of EUS Program within the Section of Interventional Endoscopy. During his time there, Dr. Murad co-founded the Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) Program, and performed the first POEM for achalasia in Missouri.
In September 2018, Dr. Murad became the first Gastroenterologist in the world to complete a hybrid endoscopic robotic assisted surgical endoluminal resection of a rectal lesion. His talent, extensive training and experience in the areas of advanced therapeutic endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) make him a perfect addition to our group.
Complications of severe acute pancreatitis and the management of walled off pancreatic necrosis are some of Dr. Murad’s main areas of interest. He also focuses on management of large endoluminal lesions (polyps) which require endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) or endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). Dr. Murad also sees a number of patients with surgically altered anatomy (Whipple surgery, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass for obesity, and creation of hepaticojejunostomy after liver transplantation) who benefit greatly from his technical expertise.
Dr. Murad is committed to providing the best care of your patients. Please welcome him to our group.
